Frunză verde foi mărunte,
Dă-mi Doamne zile mai multe
Să mă sui vara la munte,
La turme de oi cornute,
S-aud oile zbierând,
Mândrele pe plai suind,
Din oprege fluturând.
Iarba prin frunze când crește
Cine-i om, atunci traiește
Cine-i om, atunci traiește.
Foaie verde colilie,
De m-auzi Sâmtă Mărie,
Nu lăsa toamna să vie,
Că-mi ia bacii-n cătănie,
Rămân stânele pustie,
Bolovani făr` de ciobani,
Strunghițe fără oițe.
M-oi trage lângă cetate
Și voi scri frumoasă carte,
Carte-n patru cornurele
Ca să-ți fie maică jele,
Pe de laturi cu bănaturi,
În mijloc pară de foc,
Cât de cât să mă potop
Că de lume n-am noroc.
La cine-i da s-o citească
Lăcrămile să-l pornească,
Pe mine să mă jelească.
LEAFY GREEN AND LEAFAGE SLENDER
Leafy green and leafage slender
Give me days, oh Lord defender
In the mountain’s summer splendour
Of my sheep that I be tender.
That I hear the bleating sheep,
Lasses climbing pathways steep,
Frocks aflutter as they leap.
Grass-blade’s thrust through leaves above it
That’s the life a man should covet,
That’s the life a man should covet.
Leafy green and maidenhair,
Holy Mary, hear my prayer,
Let the fall not near e’er,
For it calls up shepherds rare
Leaving sheepcotes in despair,
And yon boulders without drovers,
No sheep ben yon milking pen.
Hidden in the rampart’s silence
I will pen my missive’s cadence,
Wains inscribed in every corner
Turn you, mother, into mourner,
Written gold foil cased in turmoil,
In the middle flames will kindle,
That it make my sorrows dwindle
For bereft is my fate’s spindle.
Whosoever should pore over
Shall at once in tears hover
And bemoan your dear drover.

When you like your prog to be more beautiful and/or accessible than prog-proggy, than this is for you! Melodic as hell and yes, Peter Falconer is quite a singer! That wouldn't go half the way without the solid songs of Pat Sanders. A great combination of skills ;-) Carsten Pieper

So what kind of music is this? "Symphonic Prog Folk" maybe...?! Difficult to put this into a drawer. Anyway, it's among the best things I've found in the last few years. The songs are of stunning beauty, with rich keyboard and guitar arrangements, plus flute, violin, and classical brass and woodwind. And let's not forget the most appealing female vocals. Just pure pleasure without rough edges. The album is issued on an italian label, and, in fact, if there weren't the occasional greek lyrics, this band might be erroneously considered an italian prog band... which is a big compliment!
